Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’ Casts Whoopi Goldberg and Alexander Skarsgård

The 10-episode series will air on CBS All Access, but a premiere date has not been set.

For those of you who, like us, didn’t know—or just forgot—that CBS All Access is making an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, that is indeed a thing that’s happening. Also, that series now has a new cast member: Whoopi Goldberg. The actress announced her casting on The View Wednesday morning. Goldberg will play Mother Abagail, the 108-year-old woman who must save humankind in The Stand‘s battle between good and evil. Also joining the cast? Alexander Skarsgård, who will play  the sorcerer Randall Flagg. CBS All Access has not set a premiere date for the 10-episode series.
